finally online! ^.^

hello everyone,

i did it :)
after fighting various problems concerning webspace, ftp-programs and i don't know what i finally put my stuff online!
with the help of sweet little cyberduck it was no problem at all in the end..
now everyone can admire my worst page and my first programming-assignment :)
more about these projects: learning html and css on my own was easier than expected. with a basic tutorial i found on www.html.net and a lot of trying out as well as copy-and-paste, i was able to get almost completely the result i wanted: a freakingly annoying page :D
i'm assured it helped me to learn the basic skills i will need and extend for my portfolio, which is a task i'm really looking foreward to, because so far i just played around, now i can test out if learned as much as i think.
about programming..i don't really get why we learn processing..in my eyes i would have made more sense to teach us java. why learn a 'java-based' language instead of the basis itself? its much easier to learn processing by yourself later if you know java than the other way round, isn't it? and, for what on earth are we gonna use processing in our future life? i don't think that our future bosses will be impressed if our curriculum vitae says: 'i can program in processing'..but ok, its an open-source-project, and i think in general they should be supported.
personally, i use a lot of open source programs, not just because they are for free (though for a student that still does not recieve governmental support thsat's a big point ;) - to mac-users i can recommend http://www.macgadget.de/opensource), but also because i'm  a little hippie that believes in sharing knowledge and the power of talented people that do not work for big companies..
hey that might be a topic for my essay btw..i'm still not sure about what i want to write, but that might be the idea! i just found a movie which is completely animated by open source programs, and it looks pretty bitchin' ..
yay, i think i'm gonna do it like that :)
